The Macedonian starburst, the eternal symbol of Macedonia, was the principal decorative element used on objects and coins throughout the Hellenistic period; it was adopted by Hellenistic kings, even those with the remotest connections to Alexander and his followers, right up until the mid-1st Century B.C.
